Minstead Trust provides training and support that improves the lives of over 300 people with learning disabilities.
They help people to enjoy fulfilling lives where they can chase their dreams, feel pride in their skills and feel happier and healthier.
Minstead Trust do this through support services that help people to live in their own homes and to learn new skills in day opportunities. They also run employability programmes that support people to learn work skills and gain work experience that can lead to paid work.
By playing the lottery you are helping Minstead Trust support people like Rachel and Louisa.
This includes Louisa, who works in the Lily&Lime café in Portsmouth and says, ‘I have been doing events catering and baking in the café recently and helping to support other people to learn how to do this. My favourite part of working is it has made me more confident in myself. Working has made me more independent and has made my social skills a lot better.’
Work experience opportunities are available across their social enterprises, which include Furzey Gardens, Hanger Farm Arts Centre, Lily&Lime café and the Real Jam & Chutney Company.
Minstead Trust work along the south coast of England, from Poole to Portsmouth and aim to influence society to be more welcoming, inclusive and understanding of people with learning disabilities.
They give opportunities to people to try new activities to enrich their lives, including Richard who thrives in the community theatre. He says, ‘I am happy, I am helpful, I am an actor. I love acting. I really enjoy putting on a show for an audience, and for them to clap. My dream is to always be happy and to be seen by lots of people.’
Players of the lottery are helping them to go above and beyond minimum levels of care and support to help people live fuller and more independent lives.
